This series is full of surprises. I thought this was going to be an episode where David wears his shirt for the entire time but then a shirtless David showed up in a flashback sequence.
David - You are an inspiration. I’m a 40-year-old dad with two boys under 5, still trying to run faster times. Your videos give me the motivation to keep at it.
My favorite series to watch right now! I love everything David is doing, I love how Cody is filming and editing these segments, it’s perfect! I will be GLUED to the WS100 coverage this year!
You are so great Luke! Part of me expects to get trucked tomorrow in the 50k, but that's not the part that I'll be bringing out in the next 12 hours :)
David, Thank you for all you're doing and sharing. I've been ultra running for 7 years now. Been watching Anton, Killian, and Jim; while inspiring and amazing, there was very little practical us mortals could learn from watching those with VO2 max's in the 90s. I've been following your approach since I saw you fly into Twin Lakes inbound while I was pacing a good friend last summer. I now carb up, super shoes, focus on recovery, speed work, bike work, ketones, bicarbs... all of it. I'm going into the Leadman challenge this year more prepared than ever. Keep up the good work and thanks again for everything you're sharing!
You are on a roll. Such a strong run both nailing the up hill record and killing the downhill. It shows how complete and athlete you are becoming. You are taking your shot. We love you David, keep going!
OMG!!!! David, you are a Carb God…. Wonderful effort and FKT. Cody, your videography is gorgeous in scenes and beauty of David flying UP and down the course. Thank you for such motivation ❤ 👟 👟👟👟👟👟👟👟
I know I do not know you know you like at all.....AND I just want to say that I appreciate all the showing of "The Hard Stuff", "Uncomfortable thoughts/feeling" "Insecurity" "Self Doubt" ALL OF IT IS AMAZING!!!!!!! Thank You for all that you do do and ALL THAT YOU ARE!!!!!!!
haha if you're here, you know me :) Thank you so so much for watching and validating that stuff--I often feel a vulnerability hangover from these, and comments like yours keep me going!
I was raised at 8600 ft, close to Nederland. I love watching your videos because they remind me of home. Also, I know how steep these roads are, what the elevation feels like... I have a lot of respect for you and your accomplishments. Thanks for sharing!
Talk about the triumph of over-coming challenges! So much life lessons from running. Once again, you've inspired us all! And congrats to Andy and Cade too for crushing Gold Hill Climb. WOW!
It's so cool to watch history unfold almost in real-time. As I was watching this episode (posted 50 minutes ago), I glanced at the clock on my computer and realized that March 11th was just 9 days ago. Having this entire adventure shared so vividly and quickly is incredible-it makes me feel like I’m part of it in some way. And it’s not just the series; it’s the podcasts, Patreon posts, and even the live updates on Strava... It’s mind-blowing! Thanks for being so open and sharing your journey with us, David. You’re such an inspiration. Keep up the amazing work-you’re crushing it!
It's so cool to have you following along! Whatever I do in races will be dust in the wind, but connecting with people like you will be meaningful forever!
Bro, this series has been awesome! I’m out this year due to going through gastrointestinal reconstructive surgery. You’re keeping me inspired and hungry to get back. Keep crushing it💪🏼
Your videos are super easy to watch and so refreshing, I am currently doing a 200 mile training plan of yours, my friend printed off for me, I am over in England, I feel strong week 8, 9 weeks to go 💪 thank you
I deliberately put off watching this until after my run. My ankle is recovering nicely just in time for surgery to repair a hernia (getting old sucks). I knew watching this would make me throw common sense out the window and take option b and find out. Despite this precaution I accidentally ran 30 seconds a mile faster from anticipation and residual inspiration from epusode 250. Team SWAP you are absolute stars! I can't wait to celebrate your mext achievement. HUZZAH!
So insightful to hear your thoughts pre run. I am going to start treating my big workouts like race days. Respect the challenge and push harder. On the road to my first 100 in Oregon in August this series is a god send for those of us who are without a coach! As a dad to two little kids thank you for all of this! Great stuff man
Always excited to see a new David Roche video in my feed, this one did not disappoint! The tone and intensity of the video matched the effort - one of focus and delivering results, amazing effort David. You are inspiring - keep being you.
Loved it David, so inspiring to watch. It's so great to watch your growth as a person too. Reminds me of that Ted Lasso scene playing darts: "Be curious not judgemental". The world will become a better place as we all become more curious and less judgemental
David, it is so cool to see all of your hard work up to this point manifest into this workout. Seeing your success in appear in this way allows me to be more confident in myself each day. Best of luck at Big Alta, and thank you for allowing us to be with you on this journey :)
THANK YOU! When we filmed the interview, I had just been sick on the bathroom floor for 30 minutes, so I think my confidence was just knowing I gave it what I had haha!
This was very inspiring. Wish I would have seen this prior to my lunchtime run, there was a hill and I probably would not have just done my usual old-man all-day pace on it had I seen this first. Thanks for sharing.
Great job, you continue to inspire! We all have our own Gold Hill, I just started training for a Manitou incline event on May 17, my first training for anything in 4 years. I walked 40 minutes and did 3 3min hill climbs, baby steps make the foundation to lay another brick!
Glad I already got out today, or I would've pushed too hard after watching this! My times are not your times, and that's ok. Thank you for being an inspiration to runners of all paces!
Exciting! Found the last couple of updates difficult to watch as I was not allowed to run. Today was my first run back of just 30 mins but so grateful for that and to be able to watch running RUclips again without sadness. Also, listened to Heather McClain interview yesterday and so surprised but jazzed that you coach her! 🎉
2020 was a year of Strava Segment stealing within days (or same day, I had a good friend who drove out to the local mountains right after I got it to them claim it). Anyway, great video, nice work David! And Cody for the film work!
It's amazing how many things you are reflecting on while pushing that hard. I usually find myself just reflecting on the need to keep breathing by the end of a 1 hour+ threshold push.
This production is great, worth award winning for sports documentary. To have 6:16 min/mile in this terrain is absolutely insane. After the steep part, I can hear how hard you were breathing and how fast you were able to recover. That was incredible, I realized that's what allows you to run 100 milers at a fast speed.
Well, this is just insane. How you keep moving the barrier… I have so much respect for you. And everytime I want to quit during a workout I think of you, like you think of kilian 😅
started to watch your videos and podcast lately and love all the energy Continue doing what u doing and I dont leave outside Megan I know she is amazing
What an amazing achievement! And I love your mindset on the record for the climb being broken 5 days later. A true testament to your character and humility. So inspiring both as a runner and as a person
Thank you!!! I got over my soreness in Episodes 3, 4, and 5 (and an unfilmed workout where I hammered the down). So I wasn't sore from this one, just tired!
This is better than pre-workout! David, something changed in your eyes during the interview portion in this one compared to the other videos. You look locked in. May God have mercy on those competing at Big Alta this weekend.
See you at Big Alta big guy! Lucas Valley is where I grew up and my love for running and where I learned how to handle pain, suffering, disappointment, REAL depression, etc. was on those trails. Will be watching to get myself fired up to take heads next year but I hope you enjoy them! If I have any advice for that course... WAIT TILL YOU HIT BIG ROCK! That is where to make the move. Use the top of Loma Alta going down to get a good rhythm and then really focus that next 3.5 miles to the top of the towers. That's where people can fall off like flies. Nick Handel did the same thing last year. Gonna be good to see you!
So fun to watch. You realize that you if you hadn't broken the record, the other two wouldn't have attempted it, so you inspired them and were a part of it! They wouldn't have the record they do if they didn't have your ghost to chase. Your awesome!
Think I’ve commented on every video in series. Just here to keep this comment streak going and to say LETS GO DAVID. Also huge fan of the podcast. LETS GO DAVID AND MEGAN!
“I left foot, right footed my way to a little piece of history,” absolute tears of pride over here. I love getting to see other people celebrate themselves.
Best series on RUclips right now
Thank you so much! We are massive fans of the other running channels and so inspired by them!
This series is full of surprises. I thought this was going to be an episode where David wears his shirt for the entire time but then a shirtless David showed up in a flashback sequence.
DIRECTOR CODY KEEPING YOU ON YOUR TOES

As a guy turning 30 in June and pondering whether I missed my prime and it's all downhill from here, thank you.
Same! Turning 30 next month
OH HECK YES!!! I thought the same things when I was 30! But the best years are ahead
Turning 44!! 2 kids later and I have definitely had thoughts of “I really have no place out here” Thanks David
I'll be 30 in July. Hoping I can still get some PBs well into my 30s.
30 next month, so I’m right here with ya
The epitome of “confident not cocky”! Another awesome video. Thanks!
You are so great Luke! Part of me expects to get trucked tomorrow in the 50k, but that's not the part that I'll be bringing out in the next 12 hours :)

Easily my favorite episode so far. Great work Cody and David!
You are the best Simon! Thank you!

Bro, this series has been awesome! I’m out this year due to going through gastrointestinal reconstructive surgery. You’re keeping me inspired and hungry to get back. Keep crushing it💪🏼
YOU GOT THIS!!!! So proud of you for how you're navigating that dark forest of surgery and recovery. Sending so much love!
Your videos are super easy to watch and so refreshing, I am currently doing a 200 mile training plan of yours, my friend printed off for me, I am over in England, I feel strong week 8, 9 weeks to go 💪 thank you
YOU GOT THIS!!! That is so wildly cool on the connection and the 200!!!
Having some hard time with my running post injury and these episodes inspire me so much.
Oh my gosh I know that feeling!!! One day at a time, and remember it's ok to go SLOW. Sending so much love!
I deliberately put off watching this until after my run. My ankle is recovering nicely just in time for surgery to repair a hernia (getting old sucks). I knew watching this would make me throw common sense out the window and take option b and find out. Thank you so so much for listening to the podcast too
Still amazed how Cody stays with you for these shots. You’re both insane!!!
We are going to do a behind-the-scenes video at some point highlighting Director Cody, because it is WILD!
So insightful to hear your thoughts pre run. I am going to start treating my big workouts like race days. Respect the challenge and push harder. I love that approach! That mindset for workouts has helped me grow and perform on race day too. So exciting on the 100 journey ahead!
You have inspired me more than you could ever imagine. Thanks for your perspective while also being an absolute savage. Keep being you! ❤️
This means everything to me! THANK YOU!
Always excited to see a new David Roche video in my feed, this one did not disappoint! The tone and intensity of the video matched the effort - one of focus and delivering results, amazing effort David. You are inspiring - keep being you.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I'm a slightly different version of myself on days when there is no margin for error!
Loved it David, so inspiring to watch. It's so great to watch your growth as a person too. Reminds me of that Ted Lasso scene playing darts: "Be curious not judgemental". The world will become a better place as we all become more curious and less judgemental
The best scene ever! Thank you so much for associating me with it, such an honor!

YOU GOT THESE HILLS! I love that so much, thank you!
Not even a big trail runner fan but man these videos just hit. Love the grind. Love the hurt. Keep going David!
Oh heck yes! That's so cool of you, thank you!
Thank you for sharing your training on RUclips. I'm sure these videos will motivate people to go out and do whatever it takes to be their best.👍👍

Awesome run. Especially the downhill. I could see and feel your joy and excitement. Way to go David.
The downhill was definitely more fun than the up :) You are wonderful!
That made me emotional, so proud of another human! Go David, push!!

Loving these videos David. Hope to see you down here in NZ some day!
Our dream is to go as a family when the kids are a bit older! We will be there :)
Loved your video! + Feel really included that you share ❤
This is EVERYTHING to me
It's amazing how many things you are reflecting on while pushing that hard. I usually find myself just reflecting on the need to keep breathing by the end of a 1 hour+ threshold push.
haha I know that feeling so much! THANK YOU--just trying to share the realness of it all!

Incredible work. Videos are so cool. Love you man!

This is like watching the Broncos win the Super Bowl. You're giving us so much to root for and celebrate, David. Congrats on this major achievement!
Thank you so so much!!! I'm a huge sports fan, so this analogy means extra to me :)
I wanted to continue to roast you under the RUclips comment section as you requested earlier, but it's difficult to do when you're so incredibly cool.
hahahahahah omg this is so kind! I accept all roasts though!
Great Job! Two guys working as a team to beat the time have a major advantage ... just saying :)

So fun to watch. You realize that you if you hadn't broken the record, the other two wouldn't have attempted it, so you inspired them and were a part of it! They wouldn't have the record they do if they didn't have your ghost to chase. Your awesome!
