I'm someone who decided to watch the summary video of this arc on YT and compared to that, this was horribly rushed !! The main battle of Jinwoo vs Demon boss at level 50 and and then at level 75 was only shown for the ending part where Jinwoo wins and then the all 20 dungeons done in a flash minute !

Bruh the fight in 75th floor didn’t happen either in manhwa or novel. They did 50th fight. The fights aren’t rushed or were the problem lol. The problem is the moments in between or dialogue doesn’t give moments for the watcher to understand. Plus I think the biggest problem I had here was Sung Ilhwan and Dong soo was adapted so poorly imo
@Confused_100 Watch this summary video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abbmXvEVN8I

and you tell me how much did they skip it and how much of it was a speed run. Keep in mind, summary video itself is a speed run of the arc.

Bruh that’s not a summary, that’s the whole part and talking slowly at that lol

I would recommend this full summary about the manhwa better: https://youtu.be/-fBUz6_WpJ0?si=-hhjmGtDFWeOBTf7

Mostly no complaints, but they need to slow down the damn status screens. They pop up and disappear in less than a second, constantly forcing me to rewind and pause to read them. Is spending an extra second so we can read them really going to ruin the episode?

Jinwoo always narrates what's on the status window so you don't have to pause anything!

@Yaggamy Not sure that's 100% true...for example I don't think he said anything about Ruler's Hand leveling up. Speaking of, it seemed that there was some significance to that level up that allowed him to use it on the enemy, but I didn't see that explained, so just assuming that was from the level up. It seems to me that Jinwoo narrates the screens which affect the plot (like gaining keys and parts for his mom's potion), but not the periodic status/level boosts/new abilities (not all) he gets. Ironically, he usually narrates the ones that are onscreen long enough to read already (probably not a coincidence...because they're more important)

Anyways, not how my brain works. If they put it on the screen, gotta read it. Is especially a thing in the various anime lately with characters who gain/consume skills from their foes, but they usually have slower status screens. Less important here because the stats don't really matter other than the general sense of them going up constantly. But still!

After a great episode last week, we are back to episodes like this. Never change, Solo Leveling. I haven't read the source and even I can tell how rushed and chopped to bits the story was in this one. Felt like a disjointed mess. Hopefully, nothing important was lost and next episode is looking interesting. I am guessing they will show us a flashback of the fight we missed at some point? It would be a shame if all the details remained off-screen.

Jin Ho is shocked to see the shadow army. Iron goes on a rampage whenever he’s summoned. I don’t want Kim Chul’s shadow to be cute, but damn, it is cute in a dumb way.

All 19 quests completed. Prerequisites fulfilled. Oh nice, they swore brotherhood.

A new character, trapped in a gate 10 years ago, and came out of the gate at US just recently. How did he survive that long in a gate? Each hour here is supposed to be a day inside the gate. Hwang Dongsoo seems to be vital for the investigation on this matter. Whoa, I guessed it right. It is Jin Woo’s father, Sung Il Hwan.

While fighting Cerberus, his level was around 20. Now that he feels he’s ready, his level is around 60. He intends to craft the Elixir of Life.

Jin Ho makes a proposal with his father, and got the control to the Yoojin Guild. Jin Woo names the boss of the ice bear group as Tank. By the time Jin Woo collects 10,000 demon souls, he reaches 50th floor in the Demon’s Castle.

Hwang Dongsoo understood that Jin Woo is Sung Il Hwan’s son, and provokes the latter. Guess Jin Woo’s father got super pissed and thrashed him.

Jin Woo collected 2 out of 3 items required to craft the Elixir of Life.

Hae In was shown briefly.

so that s rank basically admitted that he killed his son, and all the father did was defeat him? Not even kill him? This is getting pathetic.

@robertino129 in the translation I watched he didn t say he killed Jinwoo, just that he was dead.

And the father was just trying to escape, not kill him, I actually don t remember this part of the manwha but I would guess he avoids killing because he doesn t want to be seen as a monster.

The anime cut Jinwoo's inner monologue in that scene.
Basically he's unable to avoid Vulcan's attack while in the air, but gets the idea of using the skill to push himself back with the recoil to dodge the blow.

@Yaggamy But when it was level 1 he could only use it on inanimate objects, right? Using it on a live enemy (even to push against) would be new, or am I missing something? I thought that was the change from leveling up from 1 to 2.

There may be additional explanations I'm missing, unfortunately. I'm trying to avoid spoiling the story by reading the webtoon. Once I start reading I won't be able to stop.

Glad I’m anime-only, otherwise I’d be conflicted too 🤣. I think S2 has been terrific thus far but I’ll admit, I had to look up daddy on MAL and forgot about the flying ants. Not sure why the ants flashback was there but I’m sure it will make sense soon. For the first time I am thinking about reading the source material of an anime I’m watching…

When he gets the skill in S1 and tries to use it on a centipede he mentions that "I have to up my proficiency to move something big."
Leveling up means higher proficiency. Which means moving larger stuff. The skill is like telekinesis, or Force Push in Jedi games.
Vulcan was too big to push away even with lvl 2, but by trying to push him away he created recoil which pushed Jinwoo back.

felt a bit rushed, when Jinwoo's dad was getting questioned they skipped a few things and same goes when he fought the demon, how he strategised on how to beat him, however the graphics were good as usual. didn't like that his sister didn't tease him about having a gf as he was leaving for the demon's castle. but overall it was a good episode.

So his father is back and he is so strong he took out that arrogant glasses jerk, that's a nice touch.

I wonder what will happen when Jin-woo & Jin-ah find out he is still alive and was trapped in the world of the gats for 10 years.

Hopefully we don't get some city destroying battle, like in season 2 of JJK, that was completely pointless and did not serve the anime story at all.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Guys, it's not THIS EPISODE that is to be rushed, but the whole anime. The same happened with the S1 and first two episodes of S2. The problem is they decided to keep the 12 episodes x seasons instead of 13 or 14 as others have done. In this case, it's not A1 studio's fault (they follow orders) but PRODUCERS' fault.

Okayyyy so Jinwoo’s dad finally popped up and ong I was like “already??” When bro showed up and luckily I wasn’t the only one who thought that, so this episode was rushed a bit but that’s fine with me I forgot pretty much a lot of things from the Manhwa so stuff like this doesn’t bother me that much, still an enjoyable episode🔥🔥

Jinwoo is now considered a big brother of Jinho. Jinho gets his master guild license and his father is willing for him to take over the family's guild provided he gets Jinwoo to be with their guild. Jinwoo enters the S-Rank Demon's Castle dungeon to search for the elixir of life. He is able to defeats the lower floors lord - Avaricious Vulcan at the level 50. There is 50 more levels to go. This just gets better. Plus we gets to see Jinwoo's missing father comes out from a gate.

Every studio is not Mappa.....this was just not the priority episode....and still the animation was really good.....i know episode 3 is the weaklink but it's not 6/10 anime.......If u don't like the animation and anime then just don't watch it....And u said 6/10?.....Then may be Power fantacy isn't your genre.....

too rushed

I would rather like a season with more emphasis on small details, goofy moments, showing off more emotions than a rushed season just to showcase a major arc in the last 3 eps

@AMBITZZ This is NOT rushed pacing, the first season was terrible because the pacing was too slow and filled with filler, the pacing of season 2 is much better and is much more aligned with the webtoon. The webtoon might have 190+ chapters but overall the story is pretty short.

The only thing that I don't remember is Jinwoo's dad meeting Hwang, it feels too soon but at the same time season 1 slowed the pacing of the story so much, so for me it just feels a little odd.

Regardless, this second season is miles better than the first season, like the ending of season 1, should have literally been the half-way point of season 1.

There's also the pressing issue that Crunchyroll might not exist in 5 years time and be changed and morphed into something else.
@JCDRANZER His dad's scenes are actually right on schedule with the manwha's plotline.

This was a good episode, but its technical aspects fell short compared to the previous ones. I wonder if the production team will be able to hold their ground or crumble under the pressure of maintaining a high standard. Alternatively, will they choose to lower the bar to preserve visual integrity, as they seemed to do here?

After going back and doing a direct compare it still feels a bit rushed to me. They are mostly minor changes, but I think part of it impacts the tone as well. Things like Jinho's overexuberant attempt at hugging Jinwoo because yes he is drunk instead of just trying to give him extra meat or Iron and Igris hauling around their kills to show off (or more accurately Iron hauling around Jinwoo's kill) remove some of the funny laid back atmosphere for something a bit more focused. Jinwoo not overhearing the press conference on the tv made the cut back to the White Tiger guild feel more random rather than intentionally placed. (Also fan service for reasons I guess).

The big ones though were the two big conversations (Jinho and his father and Hwang and Jinwoo's father) along with the main fight. For the conversations, Jinho's in the manhwa reveals the reason why Jinwoo and Song-yi were suddenly closer for Jinho via a survivor of the red gate (honestly liked the manhwa making sure Jinho knew Jinwoo was not being a predator) but more importantly it made Jinho's father seem more immediately accepting and less critical of Jinho's skills both as a leader and at negotiating along with removing the fact that his father is still negotiating behind his back with other hunters. That really puts their relationship in a different place. With Jinho's father we loose not only the American's criticalness of if he is even human, but also Hwang actually showing some desire to get his brother back alive by asking if it is possible for the dead to live again in dungeons (that's a no) and Hwang telling the American's hunter association director that Sung is a beast.

For the fight the mood was a bit different. The manwha made it feel much more like Jinwoo was thinking on his feet and uncertain about some of his ideas like using commander's touch to repel himself. In the anime he was much more decisive and confidence to them. Overall they were pretty similar, but a bit disappointed with the choice as it leaves him more room to grow later as he gains battle experience outside of just being stronger.
