I won't say it hasn't been a period without frustration, but if it makes the site more secure in the long term then it's a small price to pay. | I didn't realize just how much I loved the aesthetic of the MAL forums! Probably haven't lurked on these for at least 8 months tbh. xD It's awesome to have them back though, as this is one of the best ways to communicate with the MAL staff. Much thanks to Kineta and the other moderators for keeping cool during this whole mess. :D |

| I'd get in on expressing my disappointment (and I have some harsh words to say), but I didn't really understand what was going on and @Maffy, @Luthandorius and a few others have said it better than I ever could. Though the reason I don't know what happened is because hardly anything was explained as to why there was such a long downtime and what happened behind-the-scenes. It really is ridiculous that it's had to take us this long to even know what was going on and finally start some kind of discussion, but there's still more questions than answers. Maybe everything was stated on Twitter and Facebook, but I don't use Twitter and I hardly go on Facebook anymore, I had to glean what little information I could get elsewhere such as the MAL/Reddit (I don't care about Reddit either, but I prefer it over the other social media platforms anyway), but even they were mostly mass-guessing, mainly trying to make sense of it on a programming level. I just wish we could get an actual, mature conversation about this without anyone talking down to us, sugarcoating words, and/or trying to sweep some things under the rug. Someone knows exactly what went on, and if they're not telling due to contractual/security reasons, then I understand, but otherwise there needs to be a raw, to-the-point answer for the sake of closure.
