I love the time skip in Gurren Lagann. I think there just has to be a good reason for time skips. Seems silly to get upset by the time skip in Erased, since it uses time travel in part as a core mechanic. As for manga to anime differences, that's a whole different story.
The time skip itself wasn't a problem for me. I just hated the ending.

Mainly because of Nia. Seemed like a last minute troll.

becaue now it's a cliche in all shonens, and all for the same objective (be more stronger). They need to find new ways to make "overpowereds" or big changes.

But i like time skips when are made by the right way.

People have an obsession with details. Lots of details impress them. That's why George Martin's info dumps are considered profound when in fact they add nothing to the story.

Time skips are the decision to leave out unnecessary details. People who can't differentiate between important and not important details will be angry.

Because some writers use it as a cop-out to skip to the part where they actually know what the fuck they're doing, but it comes with no warning or reason, and sometimes there are even timeskips where we would have liked to see what happened!

People tend to see it as lazy writing and they're also tricky to use properly, so loads of series fuck up because they couldn't handle the timeskip properly.

I'd say Nagi no Asukara was a good timeskip because there was a massive build up to it, but literally nothing happened to most of the characters during the skip, and it was necessary to show how much the characters had changed in that time, which was an important plot point.

A bad timeskip is (surprise surprise) SAO because there is material in the skip that would have actually humanised the characters if we'd been shown it (them being reintegrated with society and all that) and the characters didn't develop at all, it was only to skip to the next arc without the writer having to write something that's out of his comfort zone (real life).

Like 9/10 a timeskip fucks an anime's story and flow up.

sometimes there is time skip that didn't give us the story progress along it. And maybe because it's to soon for us to see the character we love to grow...?

dunno, it depends on people

I have no problem with timeskips. Unless there's this character who doesn't age

Maybe because it's difficult to execute time travel without creating any paradoxes, which some people may see as plotholes.
The topic was time skips not time travels though. Time skips is when months or even years pass by from an episode to another without being shown.

Is skipping 8 hours of sleep a time-skip?

Correction OP; The Eva movie 3.0 isn't only disliked because of the timeskip. It's really just bad in general. I had no idea what was happening throughout the whole movie. And the timeskip didn't help in clarifying shit either.

I just think time-skips is a way of saying

"Look, the first half of our anime is garbage. But we just thought of something amazing. We will do a timeskip to make it happen and make it seem well-written!!!!!"

Which is one of my problems with Asukara.

I'm alright with timeskips if its done in like the first episode. Maybe the second episode. But no more!!! Also, I'm alright with timeskips in the last episode as long as its like max 2 months.

Timeskips really makes character development a bit pointless.

The thing that comes to my mind may be that people don't like it when a time skip happens and you aren't able to properly follow the plot anymore because of major changings.
