The FIFA Women's Champions Cup is an international women's football competition organized by FIFA that will debut in 2026. The tournament features the champion clubs from each of the six continental confederations, competing annually—except in years when the FIFA Women's Club World Cup is held—to determine the world's premier women's club team.[1]
History
[edit]On 5 March 2025, FIFA announced the introduction of the Women's Champions Cup as part of its commitment to enhance women's club football globally. The inaugural tournament is scheduled for 2026, marking a significant milestone in providing a global platform for women's club teams to compete at the highest level.[2]
Format
[edit]The competition involves six teams, each representing one of FIFA's continental confederations:
- Round 1: The champions of the AFC Women's Champions League face the champions of the OFC Women's Champions League.
- Round 2: The winner from Round 1 competes against the champions of the CAF Women's Champions League.
- Semi-finals: The Round 2 winner advances to play the champions of the UEFA Women's Champions League, while the champions of the CONCACAF W Champions Cup face the champions of the Copa Libertadores Femenina.
- Final and third-place match: The semi-final winners contest the final, and the losers play in the third-place match.
The semi-finals and final are scheduled between 28 January and 1 February 2026 at a neutral venue to be determined by FIFA.
