how pauline became a mod is a mystery - i don’t
think i’ve ever read such pointless chat from one person before. as i’ve said, youtube chat is just like high school - there are tiers of people who seem to gain personal worth from being able to directly chat/call/meet with michael (mods). not only that, they like reminding people of how well they know him etc.

as for shelbi, i don’t know how someone with a full-time job can spend so much time in chat during the work day.

I think everyone who has the "time" could be a mod. I dont think Michael is very selective himself to pick mods. As you can see, shelbi is living near him and has the time, so why not, it's the same for any other mods, they're willing to spend as much time so then they become the mods. This thing just like any other obsession soon enough will become their life. I am personally not interested to become one, I like watching michael, but time is too valuable to spend it just to hush people on the internet :D beside, i like my fulltime job that actually pays bills and vacations, and a sense of belonging to the community, real community, not some shallow internet fanbase with fake usernames :D lol

realtalk: how can y'all afford to keep watching his yt stream? When I first heard about this I had it on in a tab in the bg while I was online, not thinking anything of it... and shit made me exceed my data cap for October! It had literally never occured to me that would happen, and then I looked up how yt streaming is counted for data usage.... D'oh! So, that's the end of that.

don’t have the time to actually watch it, come back here every few days and catch-up
 
I find Shelbi a bit weird, she seems overly invested (esp as she has a kid and a job - where she finds the time?!). At first, I actually thought it was his mother until I saw her!! If she'd know him from prior to the live stream, then maybe I'd get it, but I just see her as a bit lonely and acting like high & mighty/with an ulterior motive, almost like hoping that something more than just a friendship will form. Like a weird episode of Catfish!

She's also very critical and shuts people down if they make the live stream chat rude ( which I get to a certain point), but just comes across as very judgemental and controlling. I don't watch the stream much, but yesterday in the live chat she was banging on about how people are reducing the 'project' to porn and how scary it was that people were just waiting for him to wake up and go to the bathroom.

Someone else said that you don't have to watch if you don't want to and that the guy isn't being forced to jerk off or indeed do anything. And he seems clued up enough to understand what's going on.

I get that she's super controlling and like some sort of den mother that secures any fun as soon as it starts but I just watch the YouTube stream and don't ever comment. It's not worth the hassle and often nothing is being said in the chat that I want to really participate in. Chat rooms are so 1997 anyway. They were once great gathering places but now? Womp womp.

Usually it's only like, what, a couple dozen or so people watching that at a time? Can you imagine her trying to control the 150 that watch the NSFW chat?
