Today we were going to go for a hot air balloon ride. We gathered at a field near my castle and got all set up. But when we began to inflate the balloon, we discovered a large tear in it. We couldn’t go on our ride. Soara, Lucy and I discussed options. But then I came up with a great idea. One of us could be the balloon! I went and retrieved a Parade Balloon Potion and a 1-hour Extender. That would turn one of us into a balloon nearly big enough that with a little extra inflation would work as a balloon replacement.

The discussion on who would be the replacement balloon was fairly short. “Edragon” Soara and Lucy both agreed. I was the obvious choice as I was the only one here that actually liked being inflated. So I happily agreed to drink the potion and spend the next 2 hours as a giant balloon. A little sad I wouldn’t get to spend the trip chatting with them. But it was a good trade off as I get to be a balloon and we all get to go for our balloon ride after all.

I got into position and Lucy help fasten the ropes around my arms and legs. Loosely so my limbs had room to grow into them. Soara and Lucy stepped back to the basket to watch the spectacle of me turning into a big parade balloon. I drank the potions and my body quickly turned into rubber vinyl. Seams appearing around where my limbs connected to my body. I then began to blow up and grow like a balloon. My body became round and my limbs straightened out as helium filled me up. It wasn’t long till I began to float from the ground. The ropes pulled me into position above the basket. I hovered there swelling with helium, growing larger and rounder steadily. The girls got in the basket below me. As I finished inflating Soara dropped the grounding sand bags. But as expected the potion alone wasn’t enough to lift off. So Soara used some magic to inflate me more. I let out a “Mmpfh” as more helium suddenly appeared inside me. My balloon body grew even more swollen and soon we had lift off! Soara yelled up to me that I would be able to control our altitude by exhaling the excess helium.

Soon we were up to good cruise altitude and I let out a little sigh, relieving some pressure and helium so we would not climb any higher. I was having the time of my life. I got to be a giant balloon and take my friends for a ride! I could hear Lucy and Soara chatting away. Sometimes they would shout up at me to make me feel part of the conversation. Lucy joked about me getting a job as a balloon. I could talk in this form. But not loud enough that they would have heard me. After about an hour Soara told me to begin descending. We eventually landed back on the ground but the potion still had some time on it. So I remained a balloon for a little bit.

We all had a great time. But where did the tear in the original balloon come from? Did Lucky Lucy sabotage it to try to get out of it? Or did Edragon for an excuse to become a big balloon? Who knows.

The predictable result of the first poll I ran a while back as who would be the backup balloon. to no ones surprise Edragon won. I think it was partly based on the fact it had been a long time since i drew my other OC's that people didn't know about them. But here is the drawing that came from that. I'm very happy with it!
