Aside from the ones living in that region or are somewhat connected to it? Maybe, however since the football world cup is still going on, I somewhat doubt anyone who is not directly or indirectly concerned about it would ponder too deeply on that matter. At best, many people probably only hear brief summaries during the half-time news and that's it.

On the other hand, even without the world cup, many people who are not concerned would most likely be apathetic to the images they're seeing on TV or in a(n online) newspaper.

I'm a human being, so yes I care. But then I feel helpless, since I can not intervene in any way. And also ONU, the only thing they made was launching a "call for the de-escalation of the situation", instead of a 'resolution'. WTF! There are a lot of people dying there. Two little kids died yesterday morning and the only thing they did, was warning both sides to return to the cease-fire, and without a proper act.

Shitty politics and military action resulting in murders everywhere. Typical stuff in the region. It's not only happening in that place, but in Syria and Iraq as well, and if you go a bit to the east. And brainwashed people from both sides of course arguing and shit-talking each other on the internet as if their planted thoughtless arguments are gonna result in something.

Yes, I can't do anything, you can't do anything, no one here can do anything. It's politics, goodluck changing anything.

Ok, sure....but IF they weren't so fanatical about their religion, you don't think they couldn't get along better?

I mean, c'mon Jerusalem is completely divided simply because of religion and Jerusalem is a HUGE reason why we have this never ending conflict.

Let's not beat around the bush....Religion is probably the biggest factor why these people hate each other so damn much.

If my country ever decide to fight a war I don't want any part of, I'd leave in a heart-beat, then again, there's no such thing as national pride in my dictionary.

No, they wouldn't get along better. Palestinians would still claim their currently occupied territories and equal rights even if they were to all turn atheists, as would any other people regardless of religious beliefs. Jews and Muslims actually have a history of peaceful coexistence and still live together peacefully within the same communities in other parts of the world without being any less... "fanatical" about religion.

What would make these people get along better is probably stopping the delegitimisation of Israel on the Palestinian side as well as the violations of international law on the Israeli side, these are the main barriers to the peace process and both are the doing of a predatory minority of warmongering murderers.

So basically you're saying, Israelis should stop being dicks and treat Palestinian like how they'd like themselves to be treated?

I highly doubt a democracy is posibble, as I don't think Israelis govt fancy the idea of ruling a nation along side of Muslim, who could turn on them. (Especially considering the geography of the area, a coup can spell some nasty shit)

The best to come out of this, is probably Israel stop treating Palestinian like 2nd class citizen, and that's it.

Why? Are you for the oppression of women and homosexuals? Because that's what you get in these Arab nations. You think treatment of women is bad in America? It's a hell of a lot worse in most Arab nations. You think treatment of homosexuals is bad in America? It is a hell of a lot worse in most Arab nations.

Israel might have its problems, but it's a country of about only 10 million struggling for its very existence. And don't forget, Israel would never have existed if it weren't for Western intervention, so it's not like they chose things to be the way they are.

But in my book Israel is a truly modern country with a fairly open and free society, though certainly there are certain things they have to do and deal with for security reasons. Israeli society >>>>>>> Arab dark ages.

I was simply saying that even if they were to toss away religion altogether - along with this fanaticism typically found in religion that you're talking about - the issue still wouldn't be solved because it's neither one of religion nor one of fanaticism. Not claiming that you suggested atheism had anything to do with this.

Also, I don't know what it is you see as fanaticism in these people. From experience, I know that the average Muslim from Palestine and the average Jew from Israel are no more fanatics than the average Muslim and Jew from elsewhere. Unless it's your opinion that most Muslims and Jews are fanatics, in which case I don't really have anything to add.

Killing at random?
They send phone calls and warnings ahead of time to inform people that a place is going to be bombed. They then proceed to use a "knock-on-the-door" missile which doesn't cause serious damage as a second warning, before sending the actual missile many minutes later.
Israel's restraint is far better than anything I've seen or read of any other nation, it's almost ridiculous.

Do you know who bombs randomly? Hamas. They fire rockets that have no guiding system, and just pray to Allah that it lands on an Israeli hospital or kindergarten or something.

There would be no problem if Hamas stopped launching rockets. They are basically killing their own people (And I'm not even talking about the ones they kill directly!)

Three Israeli teens dead. Israeli airstrikes on civilian lands. 3 days later the media somewhat catches up, still biased as ever though. Israeli at this point plays along about the usual "human shield" card.

Meanwhile a 15 year old palestinian is kidnapped and burned by Israelis.
Israeli woman runs over a 9 year old girl.
Other unprovoked attacks.

Note: this had been going on for quite sometime, for people who just heard of it.

You're right. I can't believe how biased the media is against Israel. It's like they all forgot about the kid with the big mouth always making trouble in elementary school. When he then provokes a bigger kid to hit him he starts crying and the teachers vilify the big kid. That was one of the most annoying things to witness in school, and I can't believe former kids still fall for it.

At least the Israelis condemned those attacks. What did the Palestinians do? Oh right. They held celebrations and asked for more.

Hamas won't stop as long as Israel doesn't get out of the West Bank and other occupied territories, and while I don't agree with their methods, I understand why they wouldn't. So that's a problem too.
